Birdies for Charity
Word from the Co-Chair:
I am involved with several charitable organizations.
One—Unity Foundation, is responsible for PridefestSA.
We have partnered with Valero Texas Open and Golf San Antonio in their Birdies for Charity event.

The Valero Texas Open will be held from 1-7 October 2007.
This event allows local charitable organizations to raise funds which help provide services and support to their clients and community.
It’s a great fundraiser! In golf, each hole has a “par” rating-meaning the number of tries it takes to get the ball in the hole. The golfer wants to at least make par or even better under par for each hole which is a birdie.
You can pledge a certain amount (for example) a penny for each birdie shot during the Open or you can donate a specific amount. Last year there were a total of 2159 birdies. A penny pledge would have committed you to a $21.59 donation last year.
Birdies will be tallied up at the end of this year’s event and those who pledged based on “birdies” will receive a notice from Golf San Antonio showing the amount due.
We’ve established a goal to raise $10,000 in pledges and donations. All are 100% tax deductible as we are a 501© 3 organization.
This is a request that you make a pledge or donation for Unity Foundation. A $20.00 minimum pledge gives you the opportunity to win numerous prizes that include a BRAND NEW BUICK!
All proceeds donated or pledged by you for Unity Foundation go directly to the organization. Those donations will be used to cover the expenses for fundraisers here in San Antonio. Since Unity and PridefestSA members are volunteers therefore none of the proceeds are used to pay any salaries.
Please consider supporting our group … Talk to your boss about being a corporate sponsor. Pass this opportunity on to your friends and co-workers.
Contact me if you have questions or have difficulty using the website and I will send you a pledge form.
Thank you,
Debra “Tree” Martin
